2010 Convention Summary
Thank you to all who attended Convention 2010 at the Sumatanga Camp and Retreat Center! I don’t ever remember as many people sharing the depth of encouragement and inspiration from a convention compared to past conventions. We praise God. Here are some of the responses:
· Love, love, love being at Sumatanga!! Kids don’t want to go home. Family environment, so encouraging.
· The fellowship, the speakers! Excellent! I could sense God’s Spirit at work.
· Love the location! My husband and children were enjoying the grounds while I was attending conferences. I loved being able to go back to camp and think about what I learned and how that will affect plans for next year.
· Even though the facility was not quite up to par – the location was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. Great family time.
· I loved the setting – most of all peaceful, safe, refreshing.
· I loved being here at the camp, rather than the busy city.
· Leaving feeling very encouraged and open to new ideas.
· I enjoyed the location very much. I also enjoyed the speaking this year. I am refreshed.
· For us, this was a longer distance to travel than Birmingham, but worth the drive. Overall I’m very pleased with this year’s convention. We loved camp!
· The location is very beautiful. I love the scenery and space.
As you can tell, making the change to a camp setting brought about many blessings. We look forward to continuing our 2011 convention at the Sumatanga Camp and Conference Center.
As we experienced wonderful times of refreshing and rejuvenation, we also had some challenges which we are working on for next year. As many of you suggested, plans are being made for Friday night activities to allow families time to fellowship. We have also met with the facility directors to discuss necessary improvements for next year. They have some great ideas about offering an internet and phone service café. They are also making plans to improve the lighting situation in Hutto Auditorium and have a different strategy for parking next year. We also have ideas to improve the used book sale and workshop scheduling.
Again, thank you for your support of CHEF of Alabama. We are here to encourage and inspire you to invest in your children and raise them up in godly wisdom.
We hope you will plan to take part of your family vacation at the CHEF of Alabama Annual Convention next year, May 20-21, 2011. Please encourage your friends to join us too. Experience the difference Christ can make through the CHEF Convention.
